Mumbai, capital of Maharashtra, happens to be a huge city. Earlier known as Bombay, it is the cosmopolitan metropolis and is among the world’s most populous cities. It is the commercial capital of India and is also the major port city. Its nature as the most heterogeneous and cosmopolitan Indian city is signified in the presence of Bollywood within the city, which is the centre of the globally- persuasive Hindi films and TV industries.
It is often termed as the Dream City, as it has something for everyone. Be it aspiring actors, writers, artists, business entrepreneurs or professionals; Mumbai provides them with the right platform to nurture their future. This is why it is inhabited by many people hailing from various parts of India. The busy lifestyle here is something to experience once in a lifetime. Other than Bollywood, there are some excellent beaches, restaurants, bars, art galleries etc. to visit. The city is a hit amongst the tourist worldwide. You are sure to be delighted on a trip to Melbourne to Mumbai.
The Climate
The city has three main seasons; Summer, Monsoon, and Winter. The best time to explore the city is during the winter between the months November and February. You will find less humidity during winters and therefore would be able to enjoy the journey comfortably.
Culture
Mumbai as said earlier happens to be the most cosmopolitan city in India. In contrast to the rest of the country, you will find this city quite liberal. Due to a consistent arrival of immigrants from other parts of India, 'Mumbaikers', have shown extraordinary open-mindedness towards other cultures, thereby making it a real cultural melting pot.
Earlier known as the Sahar International Airport, The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the main flying hub in the city and is also the second busiest airport in India in regards to passenger traffic. It is home to many of the prominent national and international flights that connect Mumbai to almost every country around.
Facilities at the Airport

National highway numbers 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 17, and the Mumbai-Pune expressway emit from the city giving links to all other parts of the country. The road conditions are usually better as compared to the rest of India. You get comfortable air-conditioned blue cabs to Pune and Ahmednagar-Nashik from Asiad Bus Termina in Dadar and the Lakhamsi Nappoo Rd near Dadar.

Taxis in Mumbai are the major mean of transport used by the locals. They are cheap and are painted black and yellow. There are private taxis too which are fully air-conditioned and offer a comfortable sitting.
Metro
Metro work in Mumbai is currently in progress and is only done with the completion of phase 1. It is being built to reduce the traffic level, which is a big trouble in the city.
Train
Mumbai has a widespread network, with three lines inclusive of the Western Line, Central Main Line, and the Harbour Line. There are plenty of local trains as well because majority of people commute to their respective destinations boarding the local trains. The city is well connected to rest of the country and has an excellent rail network.
There is indeed a lot to see in Mumbai, however; the typical "tourist" places are all concentrated in South Mumbai. Here check out few of the places which are a major attraction:
Colonial Buildings: The British constructed a splendid city within the walls of Fort St. George, which is situated at the southern edge of the city. Gateway of India, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Victoria Terminus) building are the places must to be seen in this area.
Beaches: It has few renowned beaches that receive the maximum traffic. Aksa beach, Juhu beach are places of common interest among all.
Modern Buildings and Malls: Palladium, built within the High Street Phoenix, Inorbit Mall, Nirmal Lifestyles Mall in Mulund and Metro Junction Mall in Kalyan etc. are some of the places favoured for their modern appeal.
