Study the art of pottery, an integral part of Nepalese culture going back several thousand years. Learn to work with clay and how to use a pottery wheel, incorporating traditional designs and patterns with expert input from a master of the craft.
The art of pottery in Nepal goes back millennia, with the oldest pot found in Lumbini dating to over 2,600 years old. Over the years, the technique has been refined and tools have become easier to use, but the essential premise has remained the same. Today, these pots are still used in everyday life, from storage to transporting water, decorating, lamps, and even making alcoholic drinks.
Work with a master artisan to get the clay to the optimal moisture for moulding, and then practise forming the structure on a traditional potter's wheel. Once the basic shape has taken form, take time to adorn it with beautiful patterns. If you have a few days to spare, you can have your pot fired for the best finish, and delivered to your hotel for extra charge.
Please note that the number of days for the pots to be dried depends on the weather.
